Science Reporter is a multimedia website sponsored by Imperial College London that provides classrooms with free science news and related content. Our goal was to increase general awareness and science literacy amongst the young. I was responsible for developing the project strategy, overseeing the web design, and producing the multimedia content. It won several multimedia awards upon release in 2017.
CONTENT FORMATS
It was important to populate the site with several content formats to engage students. I developed 300 videos in six distinct formats each with its own motion graphics package.
NEWS REPORTS
The core asset for this project are the news videos which refresh weekly on the site. These videos report on the latest developments in science, engineering, and significant world events.
Crazy Creatures
I really pushed to incorporate fun, playful video assets into our editorial calendar in order to engage young viewers. Not only do kids love these videos, they also learn key concepts about biology and ecosystems.
Feature Stories
Feature stories take an in-depth look on a single issue using films, visuals, and class lessons. Some example topics are extreme weather, space junk, food waste, and fracking.
UX Design
Working closely with the web team, I created a user friendly design that would be easily accessible by teachers. Seeing how crunched teachers are for time, I knew this content needed to be easily navigated within 2 clicks.
